With this information, we can prepare a custom plan that suits your lifestyle, budget, and timeline. Once you sign the dotted line, the magic begins.
Your draftsperson will work closely with you to update your existing floor plan. They will consider the type and number of rooms you wish to add. They will also discuss whether you want to repurpose existing rooms. For example, you may want to convert a now-unused bedroom into a private office or a games room. If you plan to add a second storey, you’ll need to decide where to add the stairs. Fortunately, your draftsperson will help you fine-tune the details, until you love what you see.

The two most common projects we undertake are ground floor extensions and second-storey additions. Both projects have their pros and cons, and your builder will explain them so you can make an informed choice.

As the name implies, ground floor extensions do not require adding a new floor, making them cheaper and quicker to build than second storey additions. You do need to sacrifice outdoor space, though.
Second storey additions require adding a new floor to your home. There are many benefits to extending upwards. First, you get to preserve your outdoor space. Secondly, you get to add an extra layer of separation between your private and shared living areas – great for noise reduction! And thirdly, you get to enjoy incredible views from up above. Remember, not every house style supports a second storey addition. An engineer-certified inspection will reveal if yours does.
